About Golf Professional Scott Pickett
Ever since getting hooked on golf at the age of 13, Scott Pickett has been passionate about the game. A left-handed golfer, Scott started his golfing journey at the Morrinsville Golf Club where he worked steadily to develop his game, eventually representing Waikato at both a junior and senior level.
Early achievements include coming runner up in the Waikato Winter Stroke Play, winning the Waikato Stroke Play and winning Waikato’s ‘Golf Champion of Champions’ title, all in 2002.
In 2003 Scott turned professional under the tutelage of Craig Carrington at the Lochiel Golf Club in Hamilton, where he learned to conduct himself as a well-rounded, multi-tasking golf professional.
Four and a half years later, Scott was appointed head professional at the Te Puke Golf Club in the Bay of Plenty – a place where he felt right at home almost immediately. Highlights during his time include learning the ins and outs of running his own business; and forming many great friendships.
After a rewarding three-year tenure at Te Puke, Scott was on the move again - this time to New Zealand’s busiest club - the North Shore Golf Club. Scott worked as the club’s golf professional for nearly five years, before the call of the Bay saw him relocate to Tauranga in 2015, after purchasing the golf business located adjacent the Omanu Golf Club.
Scott enjoys helping golfers of all levels to develop and improve their game, whether that be through club fitting or tuition. Scott’s philosophy is that the game is complicated, so it is his job to make it simple, as peak performance normally occurs when we aren’t thinking too much.
Scott enjoys the challenge of maintaining consistency – whether it be from shot to shot, or day to day - over a long period of time; but also says the satisfaction gained from shooting a really low score is one of the major reasons he goes out to play.
With 20 years of industry experience, Scott’s focus is now on developing his experienced team and growing his business to provide next level service to keen Bay of Plenty golfers.
