About PGA Professional Sam Cho
Sam Cho had a relatively late start to playing golf, first picking up the clubs when his father introduced him to the game at age 19 at Christchurch Golf Club. Sam says he has loved golf from the day he started playing, turning professional in 2007 and completing his apprenticeship under Craig Richards at QE II Golf Park in Christchurch.
Sam’s golfing highlights include finishing in 7th place in his final trainee championship at Omanu; a lowest eighteen-hole score of 66, and nine-hole score of 30.
Sam’s coaching philosophy is that a good swing comes from getting the fundamentals right – a good basic set up, grip, posture and alignment all contribute. In terms of club fitting, Sam believes that the right grip, shaft and lie angle help to achieve better ball flight and help to keep the ball straight.
Sam’s specialty coaching areas are chipping and putting, and he enjoys teaching any level of golfer. He loves golf as it is a fun, social game that provides a real challenge.
