Callaway Quantum Mini Spinner Fairway Wood
The Fairway Wood That Actually Stops
Best For: Golfers who can reach par 5s and long par 3s but cannot hold the green when they get there. If your 5 wood lands and keeps running, or your 4 iron is a club you have quietly stopped trusting, this is built for that exact gap.
The Callaway Quantum Mini Spinner is a fairway wood designed backwards on purpose. Almost every other wood in the shop chases ball speed and low spin so the ball carries and runs. This one spins more, lands steeper and stops, which turns a long approach into a shot you can aim at a flag rather than a shot you hope finishes somewhere on the putting surface. Callaway are calling it a scoring wood, and for once the category name is accurate.
Where it fits in the bag - The 7 wood at 21 degrees sits roughly where a 4 iron or a strong 5 wood lives, and the 9 wood at 24 degrees covers 5 iron territory. The difference is not the number on the yardage book, it is what happens after the ball lands.
Easier to hit than the iron it replaces - A wood sole glides where a long iron digs, so you get a usable shot from a lie that would otherwise cost you.
Better from the rough - The deeper face gives more usable hitting area when the ball is sitting up, and lets you be aggressive without sliding under it.
Shorter and more controllable - Three-quarters of an inch shorter than a standard fairway wood, which is a real step down and shows up as more centre strikes.
Project X Denali Frost Silver Mini Spinner shaft - A dedicated Mini Spinner profile rather than a stock pull, in 60 graphite regular and 70 graphite stiff.
Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip - Black cap, 46g, the most trusted grip in golf and an easy one to live with.
