Most short game trouble comes from trying to do too much with a wedge. The chipper takes the hands out of it. You set up and stroke it like a putter, the loft does the work of getting the ball up onto the green, and from there it runs out like a long putt. For a lot of golfers that is the difference between one shot and three.

Putter style stroke: A simple back and through motion, so there is far less that can go wrong under pressure.

37 degrees of loft: Enough to carry the fringe and land softly, then get the ball rolling early.

Wide sole: Glides through the turf rather than digging, which helps enormously off tight lies.

Steel shaft: Stable through impact with good feedback on strike quality.
